1st Meeting August 2012

THANK YOU EVERYBODY FOR COMING ALONG
What a fantastic start for the New Sew Forth Group in East Lothian.
Thanks go to everybody who came along to enjoy an amusing and fun afternoon.
Everybody had a good time exploring a little with silk painting, using the salt technique and gutta too. It was a lovely warm afternoon on the top floor of the Poldrate Granary and even warmer after using heat guns and hair driers to dry work quickly.
Nobody seemed to want to stop for tea either!
Have a look at some of the lovely pieces below.

Our gatherings hopefully will continue to be a nice relaxing experience for everybody. Remember at our next meeting on September 8th bring along your finished peice (could be a card, cushion, hanging, bottle cover!) speaking of bottles see below!

(left picture) We were using the bottle contents to paint with really!
See you in September

Saturday 11th August 1st Meeting of the New Group

Remember the 1st meeting of the new Sew Forth Group in East Lothian is on Saturday 11th August from 2-4pm
3rd Floor of the Poldrate Granary, Haddington, East Lothian. EH41 4DA

Gutta resist on Silk

We will be experimenting with different Silk Painting techniques. Using Gutta, Salt, Alcholol (don’t get too excited) and various compounds that give a variety of effects.
Everbody can have a go and have fun.
There will be a raffle to cover the costs of materials used, and we stress that either you come with an apron or not too smartly dressed.

At the next meeting on Saturday 8th September there will be a show and tell to see what everybody has made with their individual silk pieces and a general discussion and stitch problem solving afternoon with a good cup of tea too.

Salt Effect on Silk

High Societeas

The previously arranged afternoon tea event at the poldrate Granary went ahead this afternoon with great success. We had many familiar faces attending and many examples of fabulous embroidery work were brought in for all to see.

Thanks must go to the previous committee of the East Lothian Embroiderers’ Guild who made sure that this event still took place for everyone to enjoy even though not under the umbrella of the Embroiderers’ Guild.

Everyone agreed that the teas were a great success (thank you Jan Ogilvie of High Societeas) followed by much stimulating conversation.

Many fliers for the New Sew Forth Group were taken away by those attending and everybody is looking forward to the first meeting on Saturday 11th August 2-4pm 3rd Floor Poldrate Granary where we will be experimenting with a variety of silk painting techniques.

Thank you to everyone who attended.
